Professional Development
At this pivotal time in healthcare, it is crucial that volunteer administrators keep abreast of current issues in order to recruit, train and retain volunteers effectively. Typically, at each of the four membership meetings held annually, guest speakers, as well as our own members:
  • Address relevant issues in volunteer administration, including:
    • legal and labor relations
    • Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)
    • Benchmarking, and grant writing
  • Attend professional development programs, which offer members up-to-date and practical information to take back and implement in their institutions.
In addition, the Association owns a Resource Library, containing material on a variety of topics related to volunteer administration and health care. Members are invited to borrow from this library without charge.

Conferences:
Full and Associate members of GNYADVS are automatically members of the New York State Association for Directors of Volunteer Services (NYSADVS) which conducts an annual professional development conference.
