How to become a member
Annual membership in the GNYADVS requires an annual fee of $65
for Full Members and $45 for Associate Members due in January
for each year. To join, print out the application on this web
site and mail with your membership fee to the Membership
Chairperson.

General Criteria for Membership
Association membership, as further defined below, is for
administrators of volunteer services in health care
organizations. Full and Associate members are automatically
members of the New York State Association for Directors of
Volunteer Services (NYSADVS). Membership is held on a personal
basis and is not transferable.
A. Full Membership
Individuals eligible for full membership shall be those persons
employed in a health care organization who have primary
responsibility for administering the volunteer program. Full
members have the right to vote and serve on committees. They may
hold elected office with the exceptions noted in the by-laws.
B. Associate Membership
The following are eligible to become associate members of the
Association:
- Full/active members of other chapters of the NYSADVS
- Salaried persons in health care organizations whose
secondary responsibility is to administer the volunteer
program.
- Former members of the Association not presently eligible
for full membership who wish to retain membership in the
Association.
Associate members may serve on Association Committees, but may
not vote or hold elected office.
C. Honorary Membership
Individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the
association, or to volunteerism, may be designated honorary
members by a recommendation from the Nominating Committee,
approval by the Board and elected by the general membership.
Such members shall be invited to attend all meetings of the
Association, but shall not be required to pay dues. They shall
not vote or hold elective office, but may serve on committees.
Membership Year
The membership year shall be the period between January 1st and
December 31st.
Membership Dues
Dues for full and associate members shall be determined by the
Association. Dues shall be payable to the treasurer of the
Association upon joining and thereafter upon presentation of the
dues notice. Notification of dues payable must be mailed by the
Treasurer no later than September 5. Annual dues shall be
received by November 30. If a member or an applicant for
membership should fail to pay his dues, the member's name will
not be included in Association records and mailing lists. |
